its easy to start a game just goto "start networkgame" and then your friend goes to "join networkgame" and then you play!

Ah, well that makes sense. I was trying to figure out how the online works. I guess noone was online. In any case, would we be able to use our custom maps on online mode, or would we need to send over the scheme files and have the other player set it?

AB is more difficult than BMO but it's a good game too.
Did you modify the game to enable online mode ? Players had to use the Kali client to play online before.

It would be useful to post some instructions:
- what ports to open
- how to pick or host a game
- where are net players seen
thank you

Usually client TCP/IP programs don't need to open ports since UPnP NAT router will handle. Only servers need to open redirect ports.
But since this is new project am sure all those answers to your questions will come in time.
I'd love to learn how to IPX hook

Good work!
It would be great to know how to hook IPX. My problem is the huge amount of data sent by ABM which causes lag and bugs (they turn the game unplayable for me and my mates). Maybe it was possible to translate the protocol ABM uses to a better and compressed protocol. I'd love to try that but I dont have a clue howto access the IPX traffic, ABM uses... maybe you could give some hints / source's ?
Greetings

Me too. But if you know C/C++ then googling "IPX programming" would help. To capture the network packets I'd use WireShark.. or any other network monitoring app.
After that, learn TCP/IP programming... :S
